Leaven & Love Organic Bakehouse, LLC is a purveyor of high-quality, nourishing foods, specializing in organic, gluten-free sourdough. We are a family-owned, community-oriented business that seeks to provide slow food that brings forth uplifting nutrition in integrity with quality ingredients that benefit the mind, body, and soul of the consumer, those crafting the products, and Mama Gaia. We are hiring three positions: Kitchen Manager, Bread Baker, and Farmers Market Sales Associate. These jobs are based in Sisters, Oregon with some roles taking place in Bend and greater Central Oregon. These jobs are part-time to begin, with opportunities to increase hours as the company expands. Each job is described below. Kitchen Manager

The ideal candidate should have experience in food service/production and management and should both be willing to "get their hands dirty" with day-to-day operations and be a highly organized self-starter.

Responsibilities:

- Completing the launch into several pre-approved Central Oregon grocery stores

- Ensuring kitchen is running effectively and neatly in accordance with Oregon Health Authority standards

- Training and managing bakers & farmers market booth staff

- Preparing, packaging, and delivering bread until baking staff is fully hired & trained and filling in as necessary long-term

- Managing ingredient inventory, ordering as needed and occasionally meeting the delivery truck in Bend to pick up ingredients

- Communicating with owners about progress and any issues that arise

- Tracking products made and out of kitchen

- Additional responsibilities as needed

Availability: Candidate should be available 15-20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, beginning promptly after being hired. If desired, there will be an opportunity to increase hours in May.

Growth Opportunity: We are happy to evaluate and provide growth opportunities and expansion of responsibilities at any time, including opportunities working at Farmers Markets and continuing to expand into new accounts.

Required Life Circumstances/Skills/Qualifications: 

  • Intention of living in Central Oregon for the next 12 consecutive months
  • Be punctual and self-managing
  • Positive, engaging, warm personality
  • Must be able to carry 50 pounds
  • Have a reliable form of transportation and willingness to be reimbursed for mileage accrued during delivery of goods
  • Have a cell phone
  • Have a current Oregon Food Handlers Card or willing to obtain one upon hiring
  • A strong work ethic and passion for sharing positive experiences with customers and coworkers
  • Familiarity with professional kitchen equipment, including mixers, scales, ovens, and dishwashers.

  • Efficient organizational and planning skills
  • Understanding of food safety practices

    Pay: Dependent on qualifications, with mileage reimbursement for deliveries, and opportunities for a raise in as little as two months. 


    Bread Baker 

    In this position we are looking for a trustworthy individual with experience working in the food service and/or food production industry to craft gluten-free sourdough bread out of our commercial kitchen located in Sisters, Oregon. 

    Job Responsibilities:

    -  Tally orders and plan production accordingly

    - Weigh, measure, & mix flours & other ingredients

    - Shape dough and ensure an accurate baking process

    - Package bread

    - Manage ingredient inventory and report needs to management 

    - Deliver bread to wholesale accounts in Central Oregon 

    - Maintain a tidy work space throughout production and thoroughly clean up space at the end of production process

    - Respect other users of common spaces and kitchen 

    - Communicate with owners about issues that arise such as hazards or conflicts

    - Respond to emails and phone calls from owners and managers promptly during business hours

    - Other duties as assigned

    Availability: Candidate should be available 15-20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, beginning promptly after being hired.

    Pay: Depends on qualifications, no less than $18/hour with a raise after two months of employment. 


    Market Brand Ambassador & Sales Associate

    In this position we are looking for a trustworthy and outgoing individual with experience in sales and customer service to represent Leaven & Love at the local farmers markets. This individual must be available Wednesdays to work the Bend Farmers Market. Ideally, they are also available Saturdays to work the Northwest Crossing Farmers Market. 

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Communicate in a friendly and effective manner information about available products to customers 
    • Develop and maintain positive relationships with new and existing customers
    • Represent and communicate the values of the company
    • Pick up market equipment and products from the commercial kitchen in Sisters and transport to the market in Bend and then back to Sisters after market. 
    • Efficiently set up & tear down booth according to guidance
    • Maintain a tidy booth throughout selling hours and thoroughly clean up space at the end of the market
    • Communicate with owners a market summary and any issues that arise 
    • Respond to emails and phone calls from owners and managers promptly during business hours
    • Other duties as assigned

    Availability: Candidate should be available 15-20 hours per week, and MUST be available Wednesdays and/or Saturdays. Wednesday hours begin immediately and Saturday hours begin in June. 

    Growth Opportunity: We are happy to evaluate and provide growth opportunities and expansion of responsibilities at any time, including opportunities working in the kitchen and/or in a sales/account management position. This job is seasonal until October, with opportunities to continue working in a sales/account management role past October if desired. 

    Required Life Circumstances/Skills/Qualifications:

    • Must be able to carry 50 pounds

    • A strong work ethic and passion for sharing positive experiences with customers and coworkers
